The 2025 Chevrolet Malibu is powered by a new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 250 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and is available in both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations.
The new engine is more powerful and efficient than the previous 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It provides better acceleration and passing power, while also returning better fuel economy. The Malibu’s fuel economy is rated at 29 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway with front-wheel drive, and 28 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway with all-wheel drive.
